Facebook vs Blogging

My world works most smoothly when I keep my information in "files". That means that I need to incorporate the newly acquired information (like Blogging, using Facebook) into my current "filing system". So, here is how I have "filed" my blogging and facebook experiences.

Blogging - is like a journal of my thoughts. The audience is selective, depending on who logs on to see what I'm thinking. It is a chance for me to get in depth about what I'm pondering, but it is not all together private, because I don't control who reads it. I can however control who comments on it.

Facebook - is just like it advertised to be - a social network. The audience is as selective as your settings (friends, friends of friends, everyone). The interaction is shorter in content, but probably more often. It is a chance to stay in daily contact with your "friends" involving them in the more everyday happenings of the day.

I'm still working on the way that I might use each of these.

What have I done?

Okay, so I posted my first blog successfully, but I'm not sure exactly how I did that and to whom it is available and why they would want to read it anyway.

My question is this: If I had not sent my blog to the 23 things site to be posted, where would it be posted? How would others have access to it?

I Can Do This!

My name is Kathy (Kathy B to my dept, because there are two of us). I am in my third year of working as an Outreach Storyteller in Youth Services at the Topeka Shawnee County Public Library. Writing this blog is a huge step for me. I'm a bit reluctant (okay, scared!) to try new things on the computer. I don't know if I think the computer is going to blow up or if it will just be my pride that gets damaged. But, I'm facing a fear and BLOGGING!
